Rare model n°502 demountable dining table, circa 1951, in oak-veneered lath with a thick rectangular top set on four profiled corner legs joined by a tubular, ivory-lacquered double-Y metal brace. The legs are joined to the brace by bolted loops and secured to the underside of the top by angle brackets. The brackets are attached to a flat iron that is screwed into the underside of the top.
(Wear, scratches, missing veneer, discoloration, slight dents, two fixing screws missing).

Note :
"Table S.A.M. Dismountable piece of furniture with mixed metal and wood construction.
The table features a veneered top accommodating 4 diagonally-set, arched veneered legs, joined by a tubular metal brace.
All fastenings are bolted, and the inclined position of the legs gives the unit great stability under load" [typed notice, Ateliers Jean Prouvé, 1947.
