NOTICE
A major figure in the post-war revival of French ceramics, Georges Jouve (1910-1964) made his mark with an instantly recognizable style combining pure forms, brilliant enamels and deep black. Trained at the École Boulle, he frequented Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, and played an active role in the modernist movement alongside the decorators of the Salon des Arts Ménagers. A close friend of ceramists such as Jacques and Dani Ruelland, Pol Chambost, Roger Capron and Robert Picault, he embodies a golden age of decorative ceramics. His works, halfway between sculpture and utilitarian objects, appeal to lovers of 1950s design and neo-modernism.
