NOTICE Gustave Cariot (1872-1950) was one of the post-impressionist and neo-impressionist painters, influenced by Camille Pissarro, Maximilien Luce, Henri Le Sidaner and Albert Lebourg. His landscapes are bathed in vibrant light, often captured at sunrise or sunset, with a touch that oscillates between divisionism and atmospheric lyricism. From 1899, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants alongside Paul Signac, Georges Lemmen and Armand Guillaumin. His work, imbued with a naturalist sensibility, appealed to lovers of French painting in the Belle Époque and early 20th century.
