Appraiser: Cabinet CHANOIT NOTICE Anton Prinner (1902-1983), a Hungarian artist naturalized in France, was one of a rich constellation of Central European artists who came to Paris in the 20th century. A close friend of Victor Vasarely, Étienne Hajdu, Alexandre Trauner and André Farkas (known as Vajda), he shared a sensibility nourished by abstraction, mythology and folk heritage. His work, combining painting, lead engraving and sculpture, is rooted in avant-garde experimentation, between surrealism, art brut and formal spirituality. Active in modern and post-war art circles, he also rubbed shoulders with Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Árpád Szenes and Nicolas de Staël.
