NOTICE :
Ernest Pignon-Ernest, born in Nice in 1942, is considered one of the pioneers of urban art in France. From the 1960s onwards, he abandoned traditional supports to intervene directly in public spaces with collages, silkscreens and life-size drawings. His work engages in a powerful dialogue with history, poetry, collective memory and social struggles, addressing themes such as exile, repression and the figure of the poet. He employs sober techniques - black stone, charcoal, paper - and creates ephemeral works, designed to blend into the architecture. Close in spirit to figures such as Picasso, El Greco and Bacon, his work forcefully questions man's place in the city.
