NOTICE :
Ernest Pignon-Ernest, born in Nice in 1942, is one of France's pioneering urban artists. Since the 1960s, he has invested public spaces (alleyways, walls, staircases, facades) with ephemeral works combining drawing, collage and silkscreen, always attentive to memory, history, poetry and myth. His powerful images - of Rimbaud, Pasolini, the Resistance, the Paris Commune, social struggles - question the visible and the invisible, awakening absences and collective wounds. Through the power of place and meaning, he joins humanist artists, realist street-artists and political plasticians in a vein that places the body, presence, memory and event at the heart of the visual. René Cassin, 2008" is part of this approach: public commission, portrait, tribute, civic art, national memory.
