NOTICE
John Tun Sein, born in 1957, is a contemporary Indian artist renowned for his abstract and meditative works. After graduating from the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai in 1985, he was awarded a fellowship from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1988-1989. The work of the artist, who considers Prabhakar Kolte his greatest source of inspiration, is characterized by an expressive use of color and an exploration of form, often described as a quest for inner calm.
Sein has exhibited his work internationally. Notable exhibitions include presentations at Galerie Art Motif in New Delhi, Galerie Holmenshoeve in Belgium (1998) and Galerie Mueller and Plate in Munich (2000), as well as group shows such as "Art Contemporain Indien" at Galerie Hélène Lamarque in Paris (2006).
His work can be found in prestigious collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art (New Delhi) and the Lalit Kala Akademi. He is also represented by galleries such as Arushi Arts in New Delhi and Faraway Tree Gallery in Chennai.
