NOTICE
rançois-Raoul Larche (1860-1912) was a French sculptor who became one of the jewels in the crown of Art Nouveau, but was also strongly rooted in neo-Baroque influences. A student of Jouffroy, Falguière, Gérôme and Delaplanche at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he excelled in both monumental statuary and decorative objects (bronze, pewter, lamps, vases). His works are often populated by nude or draped female figures, in fluid, swirling movements, and he draws inspiration from Loïe Fuller for his dancing draperies. Larche received major public commissions (fountains, religious statues, monuments), won prestigious prizes (Prix de Rome, gold medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, Légion d'honneur), and his work marked a subtle break with academic classicism at the turn of the XXᵉ century.
