Dimensions: 7.5 x 20 x 9 cm (Chips, end of tail missing) NOTICE Clovis-Edmond Masson (1838-1913) was a French animal sculptor active at the end of the 19th century, in the tradition of Antoine-Louis Barye, Pierre-Jules Mêne, Emmanuel Frémiet and Jules Moigniez. A pupil of Rouillard and Santiago, he distinguished himself with powerful, detailed animal bronzes, depicting fawns, horses and deer in action. A regular exhibitor at the Salon from 1867 to 1909, he was part of the great naturalist tradition that marked the French school of animal sculpture. His work remains sought-after by lovers of 19th-century sculpture and animal bronze.
