Alexandre OULINE (active from 1918 to 1940) - Lot 298
Alexandre OULINE (active from 1918 to 1940) Walking panther Black patina bronze proof Signed under the left rear paw Black marble base 28 x 68.5 x 17 cm NOTICE Alexandre Ouline, a sculptor of the 1920s-1930s, is particularly renowned for his bronze animal sculptures, emblematic of the Art Deco style. His panthers capture the elegance and power of the feline in motion, with stylized lines and details that magnify its musculature and tension, perfectly embodying the spirit of the period. Ouline follows in the footsteps of animal artists such as Marcel-Édouard Sandoz, known for his expressive depictions of wildlife, and Georges-Lucien Guyot, whose sculptures convey the strength and dynamism of animals. Jane Poupelet is also close to Ouline in her elegant, minimalist approach to the animal. These sculptors share with Ouline the aim of capturing not only the appearance but also the essence of their subjects, combining aestheticism and naturalism.
