NOTICE Rembrandt Bugatti, Italian-Belgian sculptor, is one of the greatest masters of animal sculpture of the early XXᵉ century. From an early age, Bugatti displayed a fascination for animals, spending long hours in zoos observing their movements and attitudes. This immersion enabled him to capture with exceptional precision the vitality, grace and sometimes vulnerability of the animals he depicted. His sculptures, often in bronze, are both realistic and expressive, with a modern touch that reveals his deep empathy for his subjects. Among his most famous works are depictions of wild beasts, elephants, deer and other exotic animals. Bugatti manages to infuse each piece with a unique sensibility, where every line and surface texture tells a story, going beyond mere representation. Close to Bugatti in their interest in animal art are François Pompon, whose simplified, streamlined sculptures emphasize the essential forms of animals, and Antoine-Louis Barye, famous for his powerful, dynamic depictions of wildlife. These artists, though each with their own style, shared with Bugatti the ability to bring their subjects to life, paying homage to the animal world through sculpture. Today, Bugatti's works remain among the most sought-after in wildlife art, embodying a vision of the animal kingdom that is both sensitive and masterful.
