NOTICE
Peter Klasen, German artist and leading figure of the New Figuration movement, uses oil on canvas to explore themes related to industrialization, technology and human alienation. His paintings are characterized by a cold, precise aesthetic, inspired by industrial worlds and urban signage elements. Using images of grids, pipes, safety signs and fragments of the human body, Klasen creates compositions in which the contrast between the organic and the mechanical expresses a palpable tension.
Klasen's oils on canvas are characterized by vivid, contrasting colors - often dominated by metallic tones, reds and yellows - that immediately catch the viewer's eye. The precision of his line and the use of graphic elements borrowed from the industrial world give his works a quasi-photographic appearance. These paintings question the place of the individual in an environment dominated by machines, surveillance and cold materials.
Inspired by pop art and close to artists such as Gérard Fromanger and Eduardo Arroyo, Klasen's approach is to use art as a critical mirror of contemporary society. Today, his oil paintings are sought-after for their ability to provoke reflection on the interactions between man and the industrial world, making visible aspects of modernity that are often invisible.
