Born in 1906, he studied at the Indochina School of Fine Arts in Hanoi and was influenced by the fusion of traditional Vietnamese art and Western artistic currents. His work, marked by great technical mastery, often explores themes of nature, spirituality and daily life, while incorporating elements of Vietnamese and Asian culture. His style, both realist and symbolist, had a profound influence on the development of modern art in Vietnam. He died in 1980, leaving an internationally recognized artistic legacy. Part of this artist's work will be exhibited from October 11, 2024 to March 9, 2025 at the Musée Cernuschi in Paris. This is the first major retrospective in France of three pioneers of modern Vietnamese art, Lê Phô (1907-2001), Mai-Thu (1906-1980) and Vu Cao Dam (1908-2000).
