NOTICE
Albert Féraud (1921-2008) was a major 20th-century French sculptor, known for his monumental, abstract works in metal. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, he joined the studio of sculptor Alfred Janniot, where he developed his skills and technique. In 1951, he was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture, a distinction that truly launched his career. Returning to France after his stay at the Villa Medici, Féraud began experimenting with various materials, notably molten lead, under the influence of Alberto Giacometti, whose approach to matter and form deeply inspired him.
In the 1960s, Féraud turned to industrial and salvaged materials, notably stainless steel, which he explored alongside his friend and colleague César. Fascinated by the idea of transformation and reuse, he created increasingly abstract works, marking a radical evolution in his production. His sculptures are characterized by complex, organic forms, often assembled from salvaged materials welded together and interwoven, giving rise to works that seem in perpetual mutation. Féraud has left an indelible mark on the art of modern sculpture, with monumental works exhibited in numerous public spaces in France and abroad.
