BIOGRAPHY
Élisée Maclet (1881-1962) was a French artist, best known for his paintings of urban scenes, particularly of Paris.
Born in northern France, Maclet began his career as a decorative painter, but went on to develop his own distinctive artistic style. Maclet was a keen observer of Parisian life and its evolution in the early 20th century. He often depicted the bustling streets, cafés, squares and landmarks of the French capital, such as Montmartre, following in the footsteps of Maurice Utrillo.
His style, influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, is characterized by the use of vivid colors and an expressive touch.
Élisée Maclet participated in several exhibitions, including the Salon des Indépendants, and his work is recognized today for its contribution to the artistic representation of urban life in his time.
