NOTICE Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, to American parents, Walter Winans lived in Russia until he was eighteen, before moving to England. He won an award as an artist for his sculpture "American Trotter", featuring a jockey and his horse, an animal to which he was deeply attached. He continued to create sculptures of them, highlighting the dynamism and wild power of these beasts throughout British-American history.
Owner of a large hunting ground, he was the author of a dozen books on the subject.
