Pierre CHAPO (1927-1987) - Lot 243
Pierre CHAPO (1927-1987) Œil" model table in elm wood. Dimensions (high table): 73 x 176 x 73 cm Dimensions (low table): 26 x 176 x 73 cm (soiling, two missing pieces on the edge of the table, 7 cm and 17 cm long, small white spots of paint on the high base, wear and missing pieces not visible once assembled) PROVENANCE Private Parisian collection, acquired from Chapo boutique, rue du Bac, Paris. A copy of the purchase invoice is available on request. This model was created in 1972. Two low, twin-arched tables can be joined and connected by a third central module for interesting versatility. Formed by two circular arcs, the "T22" table features a third oval central module. The latter is secured by a sliding system and can be completely removed or opened (as in our photograph). However, the table we are presenting is distinguished by its rarity. In fact, it was a special, customized order from Chapo in 1984. Thanks to an ingenious system for changing the base, the low table becomes a high table. Model T22A corresponds to the high table. It rests on a typical Chapo "beam" base. The base can be easily disassembled thanks to a built-in system. Model T22C is the coffee table. It rests on six circular legs that can be screwed together. A small pot of wax, entrusted to us by Atelier Chapo at the time of purchase by the current owner, will be given to you for maintenance of the table.
