"Prakriti" is a Sanskrit term that can be translated as "nature" or "primordial matter". According to the teachings of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, Prakriti is the fundamental principle responsible for the creation and manifestation of the physical universe. In these philosophical traditions, Prakriti is considered the primordial essence that constitutes the material world. It is often contrasted with the concept of "Purusha", which represents the spiritual or conscious aspect of the universe. Prakriti is made up of three main forces, called "gunas", which are sattva (purity, harmony), rajas (activity, passion) and tamas (darkness, inertia). The "Prakriti" tapestry can represent this notion visually, using motifs and colors that evoke the nature and diversity of creation. It can depict the elements of earth, water, air and fire, as well as organic forms that symbolize life and energy. This artwork can be appreciated for its visual representation of Prakriti, but it also invites deeper reflection on the nature of existence and reality. It reminds us of the interconnection between man and nature, and invites us to contemplate our relationship with the world around us. The "Prakriti" tapestry highlights the concept of Prakriti in Indian philosophy, representing the primordial nature and matter from which the universe manifests. It offers an artistic representation of this notion and invites us to reflect on our place in the cosmic order. The Prakriti tapestry is a faithful reproduction of the Prakriti painting, created in 2008, measuring 146 x97 cm, which was sold on Thursday January 19, 2023 for 180,000 euros.
